Plugged In (Part 2)

2 Timothy 2:15

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

In the last blog, I began to talk about being plugged in to God and His Word. Today, in this blog, we dive a little deeper to unpack truths found in Scripture so we can apply it in our lives. The other day the Lord began to put this passage on my heart. As I began to search and do some research behind it, the light bulb seemed to go off.

A diligent worker, according to this passage, is one that studies the Word of God. There are many people in the Church right now that are diligent in teaching and share the Word. On the other hand, if you study the Word and spend time with it, a good teacher of the Word could help and benefit many people.

If a person could rightly divide the Word of truth, then a person could wrongly divide the Word. How could one wrongly divide God’s Word? They do not study it long enough. They say what others say. They may say what they see in the Word through natural eyes. We can not only look at Scripture through or human eyes but through the eyes of the One who wrote the Bible. The Bible must be read in context, and it then allows the Holy Spirit to make it relevant to the here and now.

The more you focus on the Word and grow in the truth that you read, the more truth you can embrace. The more you experience freedom in your life, the more you can help set others free. Truth from the Word can be given to all. God is no respecter of persons. People from all walks of life can receive His Truth. Truth form the Word of God can give you hope, encouragement, and an inheritance (John 8:31-32) (Acts 20:32) (Rom. 15:4) (Ps. 119:114).

In a nutshell, I hope that you take away three things from this blog:

Position yourself to hear and receive the Word of God
Once you listen to it, become a student of what you learn
Then intentionally put into practice what you have learned
Begin to share what you have learned and practiced with others when presented with the opportunity.
